Turkish Language Course For Foreigners

Participants are obliged to comply with all regulations of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University. All procedures related to the courses are carried out in accordance with the NEVÜ TÖMER Directive, Guidelines, and the decisions of the Board of Directors.

To be eligible for registration, the applicant must have a legal residence permit in the Republic of Turkey or hold a visa specifically issued for a Turkish Language Course. If the applicant has entered Turkey with a Turkish Language Course visa and completed registration at our Center, they are required to carry out their residence permit procedures through the Student Affairs Office located in the Rectorate Building of our University.

Once one of the conditions mentioned above is met, the following documents must be submitted for registration: one passport-size photograph, a copy of the national ID card or passport, and the payment receipt showing that the course fee has been paid. Additionally, the applicant is required to complete a course application form. At the end of the registration process, a student certificate is issued to the participant.

Upon registration, participants are required to pay the fee for two levels (or three levels if registering from abroad) in advance. For the subsequent levels, the fee must be paid at the beginning of each level. All payments must be made to the NEVÜ TÖMER bank account specified below, and the payment receipts must be submitted to the NEVÜ TÖMER Directorate. The “Description” section of the receipt must clearly state the participant’s name, the name of the course attended, and the relevant level for which the payment is made.

Textbooks are not included in the course fee.

Attendance is mandatory in our courses. Participants are required to attend at least 80% of the classes. If absenteeism exceeds 20% of the total course hours for any given level, the participant will not be allowed to take the final exam and will be considered unsuccessful.

Participants are responsible for informing the Center of any changes in their contact information within one week. The Center is not responsible for any issues that may arise due to failure to report such changes.

Participants who successfully complete the course or leave the course for any reason are required to return the student ID card they received from the Center in exchange for a signature. Failure to comply may result in legal consequences for which the participant will be held accountable.

In cases where a participant who has registered with a Turkish Language Course visa and obtained a residence permit is dismissed from the Center, this situation will be reported to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.

At the end of the program, participants who successfully complete the course are awarded a certificate approved by NEVÜ. These certificates are recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

The Course Coordination Office reserves the right to make changes to the course location and schedule when necessary. Such changes will be communicated to participants at least 24 hours in advance via phone and/or email.

THE POWER OF TURKISH
Johan Vandewalle’s Reflections on the Turkish Language

"I believe that a native Turkish speaker thinks in short sentences, but during speech, connects these short thoughts through various means to form complex structures. This 'tendency to link sentences' can be weak in some speakers, while in others it may be so strong that it borders on obsession. In such cases, the resulting linguistic structures beautifully reflect the superior capacities of the human mind.

Although I have studied many languages from different language families, I must say that I have never encountered any language with sentence structures as fascinating as those in Turkish.

If you’ll allow me to get a bit sentimental, I sometimes think to myself, ‘If only Chomsky had learned Turkish in his youth...’ I am convinced that, in that case, modern linguistics would have been shaped not according to English, but according to Turkish."
